Trinidad & Tobago Passport Appointment System starts Tuesday
On Tuesday 29th April 2008, the Immigration Division will process the first appointments made using its recently introduced Passport Appointment System. Chief Immigration Officer Andy Edwards said with the introduction of the appointment system persons now have a specific date and time when they should visit the Immigration Offices. “There is no need to line up outside of our Offices. All appointments begin at 7:00 a.m. and take place in one-hour blocks. We advise that persons should be on time for their scheduled appointment.”
All citizens must make an appointment to apply for or renew their passport. Persons seeking expedited passports for emergency or compassionate reasons should visit the Passport Office convenient to them. This service is available on a case-by-case basis and according to the Chief Immigration Officer “is not a short cut to the process that is in place for applying for and renewing passports.”The appointment system implemented by the Immigration Division in collaboration with TTPost came into effect two weeks ago on Tuesday April 15, 2008. Since then, some 10974 appointments are already scheduled for citizens seeking to apply for or renew their passports.
Citizens of Trinidad and Tobago can make appointments via telephone on 669- 4MRP (669- 4677) to visit any of the passport office locations in Port of Spain, San Fernando, Sangre Grande or Tobago.
All citizens will be required to provide a valid form of identification. Persons with confirmed appointments will get a reference number which they must present when visiting the passport office.
