    When is Easter 2010?

Easter in the year 2010 will be celebrated worldwide on April 4, 2010. Easter is a Christian celebration of the Resurrection of Christ and it is on the fulfillment of His promise that he would rise again that many today - some without knowing it - believe in Him. If Christ had not risen and the prophecy remained unfulfilled, Christianity may not have spread the way it did. With His Resurrection, Jesus demonstrated to all that he was the Christ. During his evangelical days, before coming back to life after three days in a tomb, he had raised others from the dead as well. On Easter 2010 millions of Christians around the world will sing praises "for the Lord has risen" or "Alleluia" as is more common exclaimed.

During Easter, the Church's faithful pray a special prayer known as the Regina Coeli. Though perhaps unintentionally, this prayer tells the story that would explain the joy felt by the early Christians that would have led them to make Easter the most important date on the Christian calendar. The argument that the date is the most important on the calendar is based on the fact that Christmas - which perhaps is the best known date worldwide on the Christian calendar - is only about the birth of Jesus the Christ. Without His Resurrection the prophecy would not have been realised in Him.

However, Easter and Christmas have a lot in common. There are secular versions to the Christian celebrations as many who enjoy Christmas and Easter but do not profess any Christian faith. Some would lament for example that Christmas is being taken over by Santa Claus and Easter by the Easter bunny.
