    NAPA Fest culminates with Calypso Show this weekend

    NAPA FEST, a production of the Ministry of Arts and Multiculturalism will come to a grand finale this weekend - July 17th and 18, 2010 with a Calypso Show to celebrate our Calypso Monarchs in a production entitled: “T&T History through the eyes of Calypso 1939-1980”.

    The Show is expected to be filled with pump and flare as the Ministry of the Arts and Multiculturalism brings down the curtains on what has been dubbed “A Worthwhile Endeavour”, that generated great public interest thanks to an array of outstanding performances by local entertainers. This proved that the talent of acting, singing, dancing and musical performances are not just something possessed internationally but also extends to Trinidad and Tobago with our very diverse culture.

    ODPM Advisory: Overcast Showers for the next 8 to 12 hours

    In its most recent Bulletin, the Meteorological Services of Trinidad and Tobago has advised that Trinidad and Tobago will continue to be affected (for the next 8 to 12 hours) by the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone which has the possibility to produce heavy showers and the isolated thundershower. These conditions are expected to be accompanied by gusty winds and street/flash flooding. Small river courses may also become inundated during this period. The ODPM, in its role as the coordinating and disaster management agency, has already notified the first responder agencies and other critical agencies should there be a need to render assistance or bring immediate relief.

    Citizens are reminded that disaster preparedness is the responsibility of everyone and each citizen
    must continue to take the appropriate measures to preserve life and property.

    Here are some additional safety tips that one can follow:-

    • Exercise caution in areas prone to land slippage and flooding;
    • Be vigilant when travelling along hillsides;
    • Remove items from around your homes that can become missiles during heavy winds;
    • Elevate valuables above flood water levels;
    • Avoid driving or walking through flood waters;
    • Observe signs of ground instability around your home and move to safer areas if necessary.

    If you are adversely affected by the inclement weather of this period, please contact your
    municipal corporation or the ODPM.

    The ODPM continues to reiterate that Trinidad and Tobago is now actively in the period of
    heightened hydro-meteorological activity and citizens must continue to exercise caution at this
    time.

    Trinidad and Tobago is NOT currently under any Tropical Storm threat, Watch or Warning.
