    Huge Waves

General News Waves 12-15 feet high lashed Maracas Beach today starting from as early as 11:30 am.

Eye witnesses say it was initially beautiful but then started to get higher and eventually caused some "bake and shark" stalls to flood. Water reportedly got as far as the road.

No injuries have been reported possibly thanks to the fact that people were evacuated and the beach closed.

The cause of the extraordinarily high waves is yet unknown but is believed to be natural. No large vessels were seen in the horizon that could have generated high wake. Surfers reportedly tried to ride the high waves but could not get in position.

    T&T Beats Mexico 2-1

Sports Mexico scored first but the Soca Warriors kept the dreams of Trinidad and Tobago to go to the World Cup finals in Germany alive when Stern John scored two goals.

The goals scored were as follows:

"Mexico goalkeeper Jose De Jesus Corona kept game scoreless, saving a penalty and making a number of big saves.

John missed a penalty in the 31st minute, after he was taken down inside the penalty area by Joel Huiqui. He placed his shot to the left of Corona, but the keeper anticipated the move and made the save.

Jaime Lozano beat Trinidad keeper Kelvin Jack and gave Mexico the lead in the 38th minute.

John tapped in Autis Whitley's rebound in the 42nd to tie the game after the San Juan Jabloteh's striker's shot bounded off the post.

In the second half, John received a deflected pass from Whitley and beat Corona to put the Soca Warriors ahead."

A two-match playoff with Bahrain (November 12 and 16) will now determine whether T&T gets one of the few remaining spots in Germany.
